At most of the parking areas you will see signs stating "No overnight camping" which means no car camping at the WMA parking area. You can still leave your car there overnight.

Regarding backpacking in WMAs. If you look thoroughly at the MD DNR website you will find no reference to a ban on backpacking in WMAs, at least as far as I can tell. I have called the DNR and had long conversations with the people that answer the phone at the WMAs regarding my backpacking endeavors and they seem very approving and want to know more, so I take that as a yes that you can backpack.

However, Indian Springs, Dans Mountain, Sideling Hill, Sleepy Creek and all other WMAs are primarily used for hunting. I strongly strongly recommend that you refrain from backpacking during small game, bear, bow, black powder and firearms season. Hunters start at sun-up, and if they blow your brains out because they think for even a second that you are a bambi, they get an "Oops, never mind" from the great states of Maryland and West Virginia.Chamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06353036103471800904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14196086.post-71598472743994297582008-08-08T18:13:00.000-04:002008-08-08T18:13:00.000-04:00Was searching the web and found your blog on this ...Was searching the web and found your blog on this hike. Sounds like a great time. I'm planning on checking out the area. Do you happen to know if there are any regulations for camping in Indian Springs WMA?Chasing Blue Sky Photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13350648438350422747noreply@blogger.com
