Baltimore Homicide Statistics - Gender Comparison Study

According to the US Census, the population of Baltimore City is 51.5% female and 48.5% male. However, in 2012 89.9% of the homicide victims were male and just 10.1% of the victims were female.

First, let's look at the number of homicide victims of each gender.


One might observe an increase recent in both the number of male and female victims.

Next, let's look at the percentage of the total number of each gender in each year of the time frame studied.


When the percent of total is broken down between the genders one see the recent the percentage of males is decreasing slightly and the percentage of females in increasing.
