Detroit classifies most of its homicides in three different manners: Gunshots, Assaults and Stabbing. The data currently available is for years 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Below is a bar chart of the number of homicide victims classified in each category:
The number of homicides varies from year to year, so another chart was created to look at the number of homicides of each method as a percentage of the total homicides in each year. Below is the chart:
From the chart above one may see that even as the number of homicides varies, the percentage of deaths due to gunshots is increasing.
